CRITERIA FOR SELECTING INFAL ADVISORS

INFAL Technical Groups have elaborated the “Criteria for Selecting INFAL Advisors” as part of the activities foreseen in the Plan of Action 2003 – 2005.

The concept agreed upon in the Technical Groups is the identification of professionals willing to collaborate with INFAL in specific areas in order to organize a database. Officers both from member or external laboratories will be accepted.

In case the task requires relocation of the advisor, the requester will pay for the traveling and boarding expenses. In accordance with INFAL solidarity nature, the advisors are expected to perform the task without charging any fees, exclusively when working with requests from member laboratories which make use of their own resources to fund the activity. The advisors who contribute in such a meaningful and selfless manner to the objectives of the network will be rewarded with an acknowledgement mention[1].

In order to implement the database, INFAL member laboratories will identify the advisors and will invite them to complete the “Application Form for INFAL Advisors”. This information will be included in the database and made available for the relevant member laboratories after the Technical Groups verify the requirements have been fulfilled.

When INFAL receives a request for advisors –submitted to the EC or the EOS- the relevant Technical Group will provide the list of advisors available in the database together with their background.

If the requester selects advisors from the available database, he/she will notify the Technical Groups of the order of preference. In turn, the Technical Group will notify the selected advisor and put them in contact for final details. If they do not reach a mutual agreement, the Technical Group will notify the next advisor, according to the order of preference indicated by the requester, and so on.

If the requester does not select any of the available advisors, the Technical Group, the EC and the EOS will cease to intervene.

In the event that the advisor and the requester come to an agreement, both will briefly notify INFAL of the outcome of the activity.

If INFAL is requested an advisor with skills not available in the database, the requester will be informed that “advisors with the requested profile are not registered in the database” and that the Technical Group could make a search through RILAA News. If interested parties are found during the search, they will be invited to fill in the “Application Form for INFAL Advisors” and the abovementioned process will be followed.
